Tour 5 “Tashkent as the City of 22 Centuries and Religious Diversity”
The purpose of this tour is to
acquaint the participants with the most ancient monuments of Tashkent which date back to around 2200. Additionally,
participants will visit two of the cultural places of worship by diverse
religions and thereafter experience the wonders of the Fine Arts Museum.

The
ancient settlement of Ming-Urik is situated on the banks of the Salar canal. Archeologists consider
it to be the oldest part of the city founded as a result of the Salar-Djun
canal central irrigation system. Archeologists have revealed four life-cycles
of this town. |

Russian
Orthodox Svyato-Uspensky Cathedral is situated near the site of the former
Russian Military hospital and close by the Central Railway Station. This
orthodox cathedral is the center for orthodox Christians in the region. |

Roman
- Catholic Cathedral.
This
building is distinguished by its size and architecture and contains beautiful
stained-glasses windows similar to those in Krakow Church.
The cathedral services are conducted in three languages: English, Russian and
Korean. Its organ is the central feature of the cathedral. |

The
State Museum of Fine Arts.
The Fine Arts Museum was built in 1974 and contains an
interesting and varied collection of Uzbek, Russian and European art through the
ages. |
